A Day in Tagaytay: Buon Giorno at the Cliffhouse, Tagaytay City

Image
View from the Cliffhouse Buon Giorno ('good morning' in Italian), a restaurant serving delicious Italian dishes at the Cliffhouse, was our last food stop for our Tagaytay day trip. Aside from the delicious food, the beautiful view of Taal Volcano adds to the superb ambience (both inside and outside) the restaurant. Entrance at the Cliffhouse We were so full from the brekkie buffet that we just shared the pasta and pizza. Our verdict: we liked it and we will come back for more. Spaghetti with Pesto Sauce (Php 285) Menu description: Thick Basil Oil over Noodles. Verdict: If you are not fond of the red or the white sauce, this you have to try. Pescatore Alla Puttanesca (Php 315) Menu description: Assorted seafood on spicy and peppery tomato sauce. Verdict: We loved the seafood and the slightly spicy red sauce. Vegetarian Pizza (Php 270) Menu description: Thin crust pizza topped with zucchini, spinach, roasted bell peppers and eggplant. Verdict: We a...

A Day in Tagaytay City: Puzzle Mansion Bed and Breakfast

Image
At the entrance Next in our itinerary - the Puzzle Mansion. Rina requested to include this in our Tagaytay trip. Since we love puzzles, we gamely agreed and greatly enjoyed our short visit to the 1,000 ++ puzzles of Ms. Gina Gil-Lacuna! Road leading to the Mansion From the Bag of Beans, we followed the signs leading to the Puzzle Mansion. We have no idea on how to get there but we trusted the signs and asked around for directions.  Going to the Puzzle Mansion means travelling away from the main highway and down the steep and winding roads. But we enjoyed driving around the less travelled parts of the city and seeing other activities in the area like harvesting pineapples in the farms along the road. It is another worthwhile experience. Eiffel Tower As soon as we set foot inside the museum/exhibit area, our first word was 'wow' and a super amazed WOW at that! From time to time, we buy puzzles and try to put it together and we know how hard it is to put every ...

A Day in Tagaytay City: Brekkie Buffet at the Bag of Beans

Image
Breakfast buffet for less than Php 500. Tagaytay City is one of the nearest place to unwind from the hustle and bustle of city life. Due to its proximity to Manila, we like carrying out unplanned (and planned) trips in Tagaytay for a breathe of  fresh air. Our future 'Mars' at the Bag of Beans entrance Recently, we drop by Tagaytay for a 'Mars' mini-reunion. Dyan, our friend, prepared the itinerary for our day (thanks a lot D!). Our first stop, breakfast at the Bag of Beans Coffee Shop and Bakery located along the Aguinaldo Highway. Main Buffet Table For this trip, our food budget is around Php1K (good for two) for each meal. This breakfast buffet surely fits our budget! Home cooked meal is our description of the variety of food at the buffet table. For us, it is like Nanay Lolit's (our mother) Sunday breakfast at Laguna - festive Filipino family Sunday celebration.   Dessert Buffet table Sample fare from the buffet table ...

Glad to be on Globe!

Image
For married couples, communication is an essential ingredient for a healthy relationship. So, we (yanx and vanz) agreed to set aside a portion of our budget for communication. We wanted a very reliable and flexible means of communication that can bridge us together when we are away from each other. Our best option .... cellular phones! We did not have any problem choosing our service provider since we have been globe prepaid subscribers for so many years (definitely, more than 10 years!). Just last year, we quickly said 'yes' to a very flexible plan offered to us. The plan will enable us to share-a-load to each other but the best part of having this plan is being able to stay on budget!  How did we stay on budget? Very simple. After estimating our monthly consumption of prepaid cards, we realized that we use approximately Php800 a month. From there, we decided to get PLAN 800 and get the free cellphone offered with the plan! Every month globe loads Php800 to Yanx. Then,...

Peninsula Manila Card: Transferable Certificates

Image
Just to be clear: we are not connected with the Peninsula Manila nor with the agency marketing the card. We just happen to have a Peninsula Manila Card and we want to share it. We usually give the certificates (some call it vouchers) for free. Sadly, the recipients of the certificates/ vouchers did not use it. Oh what a waste of a good opportunity! If you are interested, contact us at yanxandvanz@gmail.com. Let us know how we can share the Peninsula Manila experience.
